Murmansk Region Governor Andrey Chibis in Russia is undergoing surgery after being stabbed in the abdomen by an attacker who intercepted him outside a meeting, Tass reported Thursday night.
The media outlet said the attack happened in the town of Apatity as Chibis was leaving a meeting at the House of Culture. Authorities managed to capture the aggressor.
Sources close to the incident said Chibis was conscious and able to maintain active communication while being taken to the operating room.
