North Korea launched a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan on Wednesday, the South Korean Yonhap news agency reported, citing the country's military.
The chiefs of staff of the South Korean army said it detected a launch from the Sunan area in Pyongyang at around 12:03 local time.
It is also noteworthy that the launch was carried out a few days before the official inauguration of the elected president of South Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol, due to take office on May 10.
