The Japanese government said a missile launched by North Korea on Thursday flew over and past Japan, landing into the Pacific Ocean, some 1100 kilometers east of the island country, according to local media.
After the projectile was registered, residents of Miyagi, Yamagate and Niigata were told to evacuate.
The news comes after North Korea on Wednesday conducted its highest-ever number of missile launches in a single day.
