New NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Tuesday that he will be able to work with whoever is elected the new United States president in November.
Rutte stressed that he already collaborated with Donald Trump while he was president and praised the Republican nominee for urging the alliance to increase its defense spending and added he was "right" to push NATO on China.
Meanwhile, he called Democratic candidate and current US Vice President Kamala Harris a "highly respected leader" with a "fantastic record."
