Hyundai Motor America and Kia America are recalling 147,100 vehicles in the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Thursday.
According to the regulator, the recall is being made due to concerns that the charging unit may be damaged, which could result in a loss of engine power. The announced recall affects 98,878 Hyundai vehicles and 48,232 Kia vehicles.
In the case of Hyundai, the models involved are between 2022 and 2024, including the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 and the "Electrified" versions of the Genesis GV60, GV70, and GV80. Similarly, Kia's recall encompasses the 2022 to 2024 EV6 models.
