People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) Leader Dilan Yesilgoz-Zegerius shared on her X account on Wednesday that the Netherlands will invest over €1.1 billion in defense and security.

"We do this without passing the bill on to future generations. We cancel the cutbacks on childcare and reduce the energy bill," she stated, following the agreement of four governing coalition groups as part of the annual Spring Memorandum discussion.

Party leaders were the first to inform the public about the consensus, which also included plans for reducing energy taxes and freezing social housing rental prices.
