Nintendo Co. Ltd. is planning to release a second version of its video game console Switch next year, the Wall Street Journal reported citing people close to the matter. The new Switch will be launched in the second half of 2019, most likely in the summer, the report noted.
According to the sources, the company is still in the process of the development of the new console and is currently weighing the costs of several features it wants to introduce, including an improved display. However, the new version of the Switch is set to be compatible with the game software for the original model.
Nintendo first unveiled the original Switch console, which can be plugged into a television screen or carried as a portable device, in 2016 and it hit the stores the following year. The company sold over 19 million consoles up to June 2018.
