North Korea tests upgraded rocket system amid US-South Korea drills

North Korea tested a 240-millimeter multiple rocket launcher equipped with a new guidance system, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) announced.

The upgraded rocket system, produced by the Second Economic Commission, has enhanced maneuverability and firepower. The new system is reportedly capable of targeting Seoul and nearby areas and its test launch was supervised by Leader Kim Jong-un.

The test occurred amid ongoing joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States.
