North Korean state media urged citizens to employ stricter measures against COVID-19, South Korea's Yonhap reported on Monday. Korean Central Television called for a boost in efforts to stop infections from spreading due to a recent spike in cases in neighboring countries.
The outlet cited recent coronavirus figures in South Korea, China and Japan as reasons for concern. "The virus situations in those regions are the most serious in the world," it argued. North Korea saw a large wave of infections in the spring and summer of 2022, with daily cases numbering hundreds of thousands. However, the country declared victory over the virus in December.
