Norway and France have both warned against escalating violence following the attack on the Druze village of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide (pictured) stressed the potential turning point this conflict could represent for the region, warning against Israeli response to the attack. Similarly, the French Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and called for measures to prevent further military escalation.
Eide emphasized the responsibility of regional leaders to avoid escalating the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, advocating for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to reduce tensions, while France reiterated its commitment to working with relevant parties to maintain peace and advised French citizens against traveling to Lebanon, Israel, or the occupied Palestinian territories.
The attack on Saturday targeted the Druze village of Majdal Shams, with Israel blaming Hezbollah for the strike. However, Hezbollah has denied responsibility for the attack.
