Norway's Defense Minister Bjoern Arild Gram (pictured) announced on Tuesday that the Scandinavian country will send eight Leopard 2 tanks and four support vehicles to Ukraine.

Gram said the decision was reached following dialogue with other European countries and is aimed at helping Ukraine as it approaches a "critical phase" in its war with Russia. "They are dependent on rapid and comprehensive Western support. We will also contribute with the education and training of Ukrainian tank crews in Poland, together with other allied countries," the minister stated.

Norway had confirmed in January that it will send tanks to Ukraine but had not specified the number of vehicles at the time.
