Number of Maui wildfires fatalities up to 96

The death toll from the wildfires on the Hawaiian island of Maui climbed to 96, Maui County said on Monday.

Local authorities added that two fires, including one in the historic town of Lahaina have still not been fully contained.

Earlier, Hawaii Governor Josh Green said there is "very little left" of Lahaina, noting around 2,700 structures were destroyed in the settlement. He estimated the cost of the damage at $5.6 billion.

The death toll from Friday's 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has increased to 2,719 people, according to local media reports published on Tuesday.
