Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Secretary-General Mohammed Barkindo (pictured) stressed on Sunday that "crude oil demand will shift from reverse to forward gear" in 2021.
Speaking at the 47th Meeting of the Joint Technical Committee (JTC), ahead of the 25th Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC) Meeting and 13th OPEC-non OPEC Ministerial Meeting set for tomorrow, Barkindo specified that the demand is expected to soar 5.9 million barrels per day (bpd) from 2020 to 95.9 million bpd this year.
"The non-OECD [Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development] will be in the driver's seat with growth of around 3.3 mbpd," he also noted.
