Harris was in close contact with COVID-positive staffer

United States Vice President Kamala Harris had close contact with a staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House revealed in a statement.

The staffer tested negative for the virus ahead of spending time with the vice president. "This staff member is fully vaccinated and boosted and did not experience symptoms," the statement read, adding that others who were in contact with the aide are being contacted.

Harris tested negative for the virus on Thursday, after the encounter.
