OpenAI plans AI-specific hardware in major tech shift

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has revealed plans to develop an artificial intelligence-specific hardware device, calling it the most significant disruption in tech since the iPhone, Nikkei Asia reported on Sunday.

According to the report, Altman said OpenAI hopes to collaborate on the project with Jony Ive, Apple's former chief design officer.

Altman, currently visiting Japan, will meet with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Monday. The AI-focused device aims to revolutionize user interaction with artificial intelligence, though specific details remain undisclosed.
