Two deadly explosions that occurred at the event dedicated to the fourth anniversary of the killing of Iranian Army General Qasem Soleimani (pictured) claimed at least 53 lives, Iranian state media reported on Wednesday.
The blast reportedly occurred 700 meters away from the deceased general's grave in Kerman. According to the National Medical Services Organization, around 71 others were injured and transferred to the hospital. All roads leading to the cemetery have been evacuated, IRNA News Agency reported. The city's deputy governor for security told IRNA in an interview that the two blasts were connected with "terrorism."
The 62-year-old general, who served as the commander of the Quds Forces, was killed in the United States drone strike in Baghdad four years ago.
