The Olympic rings will stay on the Eiffel Tower after the Paris Games, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo stressed in an interview with Ouest-France. She stressed she received approval from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to keep the rings as a lasting symbol of the event.
"As mayor of Paris, the decision is up to me and I have the agreement of the IOC. So yes, they will stay on the Eiffel Tower," she was cited as saying.
Hidalgo also discussed the Games' impact on the city, highlighting the swimming events in the Seine and improved accessibility features. She also announced her plans to preserve ten statues of notable women displayed during the opening ceremony and display them.
