Paris Police Prefect Laurent Nunez insisted on Sunday there is "no racism in the police."
The comments were made in response to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani's call on France to "seriously address the deep issues of racism and discrimination in law enforcement" after a police officer killed a teenager of Algerian origin, sparking mass riots across the country.
Speaking to BFMTV, Nunez acknowledged there may have been a "few slippages" but added he was "shocked" the UN office actually used the term "racism."
