Red Bull driver Sergio Perez won the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix qualifying, beating Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc by 0.025 seconds. Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz came third, falling behind 0.202 seconds. Red Bull driver Max Verstappen placed fourth.

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton was knocked out in the first qualifying stint (Q1), finishing at 16 position, which is his first Q1 elimination since Brazil 2017. Haas driver Mick Schumacher crashed into a barrier during Q2, but was reportedly physically fine after talking to the medics.

"What a lap, unbelievable. I can do 1,000 laps and I don't think I could beat that one, it was unbelievable. We weren't expecting to match the Ferraris in qualifying, we were focussing on the race," shared Perez. This was Perez's first pole win.
