Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Saturday that there is no freedom of speech in the West, pointing to the events in recent years as proof of this.

"There is definitely no freedom of speech in the West. And, probably, the events of the last few years have shown this. Such a quantity of commissioned materials, such a quantity of fakes that are now being published by the most respected publications, of course, it would have been difficult to believe this two years ago," Peskov told RIA Novosti in an interview.

The Kremlin press secretary noted that there are still journalists in the West who attempt to analyze the situation from all perspectives and who "command respect," adding that Russia works with such journalists to provide them with "first-hand information."
