The Polish Operational Command announced on Wednesday that it activated all of its available forces and scrambled its fighter jets due to "an attack by the long-range aviation of the Russian Federation" in Western Ukraine.

"In accordance with standard procedures, the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces has activated all available resources under his command. On-duty fighter pairs have been scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest state of readiness," the operational command said in a post on X, noting that these steps were taken to ensure security in "areas bordering threatened regions."

The Polish Armed Forces previously scrambled its fighter jets following Russian attacks in Western Ukraine, close to the Polish border, in November. Earlier today, Russia also reportedly attacked Ukraine's northeastern cities and its energy sector.
