47% of citizens of the European Union rate the economy as "good," according to the April/May Eurobarometer survey published on Thursday, up by 2 percentage points from the poll conducted in October and November 2023. The figure also marks the highest percentage since 2019. 45% of respondents expect the economic situation in the EU to remain the same, 19% think it will improve, while 26% think it will be worse.
The war in Ukraine and immigration and inflation are the two most important issues facing the EU at the moment, receiving 35% and 24% of the votes respectively, followed by the international situation and inflation at 22% and 19%. More respondents think that "things are going in the wrong direction" in the EU, with 48% of the vote, than in the right direction, at 34%.
