Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) CEO Kirill Dmitriev (pictured), who Russian President Vladimir Putin recently named the country's special envoy on international economic and investment cooperation, revealed on Tuesday that a meeting with United States billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk is coming "in the near future."
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the annual Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) meeting, Dmitriev stated that Musk is a "unique leader dedicated to making humanity move forward." He added that he talked with Roscosmos head Dmitry Bakanov about potential space cooperation with the US, and in particular, about flights to Mars.
Meanwhile, discussing the matter of companies from the US returning to Russia, Dmitriev noted that it might be difficult, as "many niches are already occupied." He added, however, that the US firms could create joint ventures with Russian businesses.
