The Kremlin said on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed "concern" over the resumption of hostilities by Israel in the Gaza Strip during a phone call with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Both leaders affirmed their readiness to contribute to de-escalation and long-term stability in the region.

The discussion also focused on strengthening Russian-Qatari cooperation, following a recent bilateral commission meeting in Doha. The leaders agreed to boost investment and expand collaboration in industry, energy, transport, culture, and sports.

Regarding Syria, Putin and the Emir stressed the importance of preserving the country’s sovereignty and stability. They committed to continued humanitarian aid and efforts to support Syria’s socio-economic recovery.
