Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that the current energy crisis is a result of the West "getting ahead of itself" in transitioning to green energy.
Putin asserted that the fact Western countries were "underfunding and hampering investments" in traditional energy sources and at the same time were not able to replace them with green sources resulted in the ongoing crisis.
The Russian leader insisted natural gas is the "best source of energy" and stressed Russia is not against a transition to alternative sources. He also accused the West of "scaring voters" with climate change talk but then reverting to using fuel oil and coal to produce energy.
