Russian President Vladimir Putin promised that all Ukrainian troops currently fighting in Kursk will be spared if they surrender and will be "guaranteed lives and decent treatment in accordance with international law."
Russia's president was cautious about the ongoing diplomatic contacts between his country and the United States, noting that the situation is starting to move. "Let's see what comes out of this. We will work on this topic today," Putin said on Friday during a meeting with the members of the Russian Security Council.
Previously, US President Donald Trump asked Putin to spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers he said were "completely surrounded" in the Kursk region. On the other hand, Ukraine denied the encirclement of its forces.
