The Qatari Foreign Ministry announced on Sunday that a diplomatic delegation has arrived in Syria to complete the necessary procedures to reopen the Qatari Embassy in Damascus on Tuesday. Qatar closed its embassy in the country in 2011, at the start of the uprising that grew into the Syrian civil war.
The Qatari delegation assured the Syrian transitional government of its "full commitment to supporting the Syrian people in achieving their aspirations for security, peace, development, and prosperity following the success of their revolution." The delegation also discussed ways to strengthen the supply of humanitarian aid from Qatar to the Syrian population.
