Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the referenda being conducted in east Ukraine are merely a reaction to the statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Lavrov told the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly that the people in Donbas are doing as the head of the Kiev regime told them to do in August 2021. At the time Mr. Zelensky said that anyone who "feels themselves to be Russian, for the benefit of their children and grandchildren should get out and go to Russia."
"That's what the inhabitants of those regions are doing and they're taking their land with them," the foreign minister said.
