British multinational postal service and courier company, Royal Mail, announced in a statement on Wednesday that due to a "cyber incident" it has been experiencing "severe service disruptions." While deliveries in the United Kingdom were mostly unaffected, with only slight delays, the company stated that, currently, it cannot ship letters or packages overseas.
"We have asked customers temporarily to stop submitting any export items into the network while we work hard to resolve the issue," Royal Mail noted, stating that those who already had "items shipped for export" might still experience delays or disruptions.
Royal Mail underscored that it "immediately launched an investigation into the incident" and added that it is working "with external experts," while the matter was reported to relevant authorities in the country.
