Iranian Navy Commander Shahram Irani announced on Monday that Iran, Russia, and China will hold joint military maritime exercises in March.
He noted that the purpose of the drills is "ensuring regional security and stability and fulfilling common interests," noting that the three countries held military drills in recent years "to enhance the security and stability of international maritime trade, counter piracy, and maritime terrorism."
Irani pointed out that several other countries have also been invited to participate in the drills, emphasizing that Iran's naval forces are currently "at the highest level of readiness to defend against any kind of threat or act of aggression."
