Russian President Vladimir Putin signed on Sunday a law prohibiting domestic banks from sharing customer data with authorities of countries that are sanctioning Moscow and requiring them to report any such data request to the Bank of Russia.
He also put his signature on a decree instructing more action from all government bodies and related institutions to ensure the nation's information security and announced that the federal government will stop using information security tools originating from unfriendly countries from January 1, 2025. In addition, Putin approved the law that suspends the simplified visa issuance process for citizens of several European countries deemed "unfriendly" to Moscow.
Furthermore, Putin signed a new law introducing a six-month deferral of payment of value-added tax (VAT) on the goods imported from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), a law on tax information transfer between governmental departments and a law banning "unreasonable" collection of personal data by businesses.
