Russia bans entry to 21 members of UK parliament

UNSPLASH / DIMMIS VART

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that it is sanctioning 15 members of the United Kingdom's House of Commons and six members of the House of Lords over their "hostile statements and unfounded accusations."

"In response to London's ongoing confrontational course, which includes efforts to demonize our country, actively fabricating anti-Russian narratives in order to reduce Moscow's influence on the international stage, and further pumping weapons into the neo-Nazi regime in Kyiv, a decision has been made to include a number of members of the UK Parliament in the Russian 'stop list,'" the ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also claimed that the US sanctions against Russia and the British officials' "hysterical" statements show that "London does not intend to abandon its choice in favor of open confrontation with Russia."
