Assistant to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Marine Board, Nikolai Patrushev, emphasized on Wednesday the growing strategic importance of the Arctic amid global tensions.
Speaking at the international Arctic forum "The Arctic – Territory of Dialogue" in Murmansk, he stressed the urgency of accelerating development in the Arctic zone to safeguard Russia's interests.
"The Arctic is becoming increasingly vital for Russia’s international standing and domestic growth," said Patrushev. He underscored the importance of economic and infrastructure projects, maintaining sovereignty over Arctic territories, and securing control of the Northern Sea Route and continental shelf.
