The Russian Defense Ministry said Monday that its forces liberated the settlement of Nikolayevo-Daryino during offensive operations in the Kursk Region. According to the ministry, Ukrainian forces suffered significant casualties, losing more than 190 servicemen, two tanks, and multiple armored vehicles over the past 24 hours.
Russia said it repelled two counterattacks and targeted Ukrainian manpower and equipment in over a dozen settlements, including Guevo, Nikolaevka, and Sudzha. The ministry also claimed the destruction of six UAV control points and an ammunition depot, while three Ukrainian servicemen surrendered.
The village of Nikolayevo-Daryino lies near the Russian-Ukrainian border, a region of intense fighting. A Ukrainian source told AFP in November that Kiev controlled 800 square kilometers of the border area, down from earlier claims of nearly 1,400 square kilometers.
