Ukrainian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Monday condemning the illegal treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian forces, in particular for political purposes.
It also emphasized the importance of foreign soldiers and stateless persons fighting for Ukraine being treated humanely while in captivity.
The ministry called on Russia to adhere to the rules of international humanitarian law regarding servicemen, as was agreed in the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
