Russian Mi-8 helicopter disappears in Karelia

An Mi-8 helicopter of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations disappeared over Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia, the ministry stated for TASS.

The helicopter of the North-Western Aviation Rescue Center of the ministry ceased communicating during its training flight while it was flying over the Prionezhski District in Karelia. Three crew members were on board the helicopter.

Search and rescue teams have been organized and sent on their way on hovercraft and snowmobiles with an An-26 aircraft on standby, the ministry said.
