Russian envoy says Western sanctions make no 'practical sense'

Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said on Thursday that Western sanctions against Russia have no "practical sense."

"Western sanctions against Russia were imposed for the first time around 1240," Ulyanov wrote on Telegram, adding that they have "lasted for centuries without any practical sense."

He then called on the European Union (EU) to "stop playing these childish games" or "face consequences," which he said would come "soon enough."
