Russian journalists working for Izvestia News were detained in Estonia and had their Estonia-issued Schengen visas revoked, RIA reported on Saturday. The reporters were also banned from entering the European Union for three years. Izvestia published a document that stated that its employee Ksenia Soldatova's visa was annulled because "the conditions and purpose of the intended stay were not justified."

On Thursday, Estonia announced that it will close its borders to Russian nationals with Estonian Schengen visas, but that those who possess visas issued by other countries would still be allowed to enter the country.
