The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said on Wednesday it detected a Russian military jet in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on May 15.
"The Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace. This flight occurred as several planned large-scale military training exercises are ongoing in and around Alaska," NORAD said in a statement and added Russia's military activity in the region is regular and is "not seen as a threat."
Last week, NORAD detected six Russian jets in or near ADIZ.
