Elena Rybakina fought her way to the Wimbledon semifinals on Wednesday, beating Ajla Tomljanovic 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The best Kazakhstani player will face Simona Halep in her first Grand Slam semifinal on Thursday.
Tomljanovic started the match in top form but could not sustain it as Rybakina rallied in the second set. The Australian managed to come back from 4-1 behind in the third, but it was too late to get back into the match. Rybakina ended the quarterfinal with 15 aces to Tomljanovic's one, and a 75% first serve percentage compared to her opponent's 58%.
