Leader of the Democratic Party, South Korea's largest opposition party in the National Assembly, Lee Jae-myung (pictured) described on Tuesday the martial law President Yoon Suk-yeol declared as "unconstitutional" and "against the people."

Speaking to the press, Lee said that the parliament will try to annul Yoon's decision while also expressing fears that the military could try to arrest those lawmakers who support the nullification. In the meantime, YTN reported that National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik is on his way to the parliament and seeking to convene a session about the event.

Lee's reaction came after Yoon declared martial law in South Korea to "eradicate pro-North Korean forces and protect the free constitutional order."
