A South Korean court canceled the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seok-yeol, leading to his release from custody, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The Seoul Central District Court accepted Yoon's request to cancel his detention, ruling that there were insufficient grounds to keep him in jail.

Yoon was impeached earlier this year over his controversial martial law declaration. He was consequently arrested in January on charges of leading an insurrection and abusing his power.
