SCOTUS pauses deportation of Venezuelan migrants

The United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) on Saturday ordered President Donald Trump's administration to temporarily halt the deportation of alleged Venezuelan gang members from Texas.

"The government is directed not to remove any member of the putative class of detainees from the United States until further order of this court," the Supreme Court said in a brief order.

On Friday, lawyers for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a request in multiple courts, including the Supreme Court, calling for urgent action as the next round of deportation flights of immigrants detained in Texas was imminent.
