SEC sues Kraken for not registering as trading platform

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday filed a lawsuit against Kraken, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange.

In the court filing, the SEC pointed to Kraken's failure to register with the regulatory agency despite operating an online crypto trading platform.

Previously, SEC Chair Gary Gensler urged crypto companies to take note of the regulator's crackdown on Kraken in order to avoid facing similar penalties.
