United States Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (pictured) revealed that senators have come to a $118 billion agreement on more stringent border and immigration policies. This draft is now set to be voted on by the Senate in the upcoming days.

The deal aims to raise the requirements for migrants to be granted asylum, implement an automatic shutdown of the southern border in the event of reaching specific daily migrant encounter thresholds, and allocate billions of dollars to Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and the border.

"The Senate's bipartisan agreement is a monumental step towards strengthening America's national security abroad & along our borders...It's one of the most necessary, important pieces of legislation Congress has put forward in years to ensure America's future prosperity & security," Schumer added. He also pledged to hold a procedural vote on Wednesday to advance the package.
