South Korea has been aware, for some time, that the North Korea-provided weapons have been used by Russia in its war against Ukraine, Yonhap reported on Thursday citing a senior government official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
"It's hard to talk about because this is an intelligence matter ... but we have long confirmed" this, according to the official. The official added that it is still too early to talk about the outcomes of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un, adding that Seoul is watching the situation closely.
"We're discussing multilateral measures we can take together with the United States, Japan and other key friends as well as individual measures that we can take on our own," the official asserted. Meanwhile, the South Korean National Security Council (NSC) urged Moscow and Pyongyang to fulfill their obligations and not enter into arms trade.
