The price of white metal went up by over 1% on Monday as the burning tensions in the Middle East appeared to raise investors' appetite for silver.
Over 60 people alone were killed in the overnight airstrikes on the southern city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, while the total death toll in the Palestinian enclave is said to have surpassed 28,000. During the overnight operation, Israeli forces rescued two hostages from the southern city. High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell earlier criticized Washington for not taking appropriate steps to prevent civilian casualties in the Strip.
Silver gained 1.22% to sell at $22.88 per ounce at 4:20 am ET.
