World number one and first-seed Italian Jannik Sinner reached the semifinal at this year's US Open after beating Danil Medvedev from Russia 3-1 (6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4) after two hours and thirty-nine minutes of play.
Sinner reached his first-ever semifinal in New York and improved his head-to-head with Medvedev to 6-7. The Italian player was more solid from the baseline, hitting 38 unforced errors to Medvedev's 57 and also being more solid on serve.
In the next round Sinner will face Jack Draper from the United Kingdom who beat Alex de Minaur to book his spot in the semifinal.
