Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner reached the Australian Open final on Friday after beating the world number 1 Novak Djokovic 6-1 6-2 6-7 (6-8) 6-3. He will face the winner of the match between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev on January 28.
This will be Sinner's first Grand Slam final. The 22-year-old Italian's previous best placement at the Australian Open was in the fourth round last year, where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
"The confidence from the end of last season has, for sure, kept the belief I can play against the best players in the world, and I'm really happy I can play in my first final," Sinner said after the match.
