Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico may block new sanctions against Russia if they hinder peace talks in Ukraine, he said before departing for Brussels, where he will attend a European Council meeting.
"We cannot insist on adopting sanctions at any cost. There may come a moment when we will say we do not agree because we believe they are ineffective to the current efforts for a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. We are prepared to veto any new sanctions if we determine they could hinder the peace settlement process," Fico added.
The sanctions list currently includes over 2,400 individuals and legal entities.
